Trekking is by far Nepal’s biggest attraction. Pioneered by Col. Jimmy Roberts in the early 1960s, most tourists embark on some trek or the other and many do multiple treks before heading back home. Some arrive each year to do a different trek each time. A trek is also the best means of seeing the country and to understand its people. Walking through emerald rice fields; through rhododendron forests; crossing streams, camping out on a hilltop in the wilderness with towering mountains in the background, make trekking an unforgettable experience.
Trekking also gives much more experience about the locality,mountain,nature of living people inside the trekking area,living standards of the people,behave,their local products for food and so much more strange things that you can not feel only after reading,watching on tv,listening on different media.So,I think it's necessary once visit and enjoy the real fun of treakking.It's alos help you to improve your walking exercise and it's best idea to keep your self healthy.
So,come Nepal,visit Nepal and learn Nepal.

yes i completely agree.i didnt know about Col.Jimmy Roberts.thanks to you,now i know.i think 95% tourists come to nepal with trekking in mind.they prefer to see places which they wont be able to see by bus.best part is that they can see lifestyle of villagers and even get to interact with them personally,which for them is experience.it really makes their journey unforgettable.
